This gene encodes a ubiquitoustranscriptional enhancer factor that is a member of the TEA/ATTS domainfamily. This protein directs the transactivation of a wide variety ofgenes and, in placental cells, also acts as a transcriptionalrepressor. Mutations in this gene cause Sveinsson\'s chorioretinalatrophy. Additional transcript variants have been described but theirfull-length natures have not been experimentally verified.
