Information

Gene Symbol: AQP2
Gene ID: 359
Uniprot ID: AQP2_HUMAN
Immunogen Region: 222-271 aa
Specificity: Phospho-AQP2 (S256) Polyclonal Antibody detects endogenous levels of AQP2 protein only when phosphorylated at S256.
Immunogen: The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from the human Aquaporin 2 around the phosphorylation site of Ser256 at the amino acid range 222-271

Description

Post Translational Modifications Ser-256 phosphorylation is necessary and sufficient for expression at the apical membrane. Endocytosis is not phosphorylation-dependent. N-glycosylated.
Function Forms a water-specific channel that provides the plasma membranes of renal collecting duct with high permeability to water, thereby permitting water to move in the direction of an osmotic gradient. Plays an essential role in renal water homeostasis.
