Taq DNA polymerase is a thermostable DNA polymerase isolated from Thermus aquaticus.
This enzyme has a molecular weight of 95 kDa and exhibits both a 5'→3' DNA polymerase and a 5'→3 exonuclease activity. The 5'-3' exonuclease activity  leaves a 3' overhang on the PCR product, which are convenient for direct t-A cloning.Taq DNA Polymerase lacks 3'-5' exonuclease activity and proofreading ability.
Taq DNA polymerase can withstand prolonged incubation at high temperatures without a significant loss of activity and is widely used in assays for molecular biology, like routine PCR and cloning PCR.
